PACIFIC HIGHWAY
Travelling through Cowper, you can’t fail to notice the changes taking place on the Pacific Highway. The Kempsey by-pass is finished, the Sapphire to Woolgoolga upgrade will be completed next year, and Frederickton to Eungai and Nambucca Head to Urunga are ready to start.
We must maintain this pace if our region’s economy is going to prosper. However, under the Gillard Government’s plans, there is a $4bn black hole in funding for the duplication of the highway and they are blaming the NSW Government for not meeting half the costs.
The Coalition will end the blame game. We have pledged $5.64bn to the highway, restoring the 80:20 funding partnership with NSW, and thereby providing the $7bn needed to finish the job.
If the Coalition is elected on 14 September, the money will be there for the highway to be made safer sooner.
