Reliable, affordable, high-speed NBN broadband services are on the way for Port Macquarie residents, with NBN Co set to switch on the new network for 3,100 homes and businesses in coming days.
Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker today inspected one of the first NBN nodes to be completed, which will soon be delivering services to local residents.
“This is an exciting next step for broadband services in Port Macquarie,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“Six months after the start of construction, the first 3,100 homes and businesses will be able to start connecting to the NBN network at the end of this month.
“Another 34,500 premises in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region will progressively make the switch to the NBN network over the next year.
“I know there are many people in Port Macquarie with poor internet connections who have been eagerly awaiting the switch on of the NBN network.
“Faster, more reliable broadband can provide a range of benefits for local residents and businesses, including new opportunities for remote working, more effective access to online educational tools, and access to more entertainment choices.
“Businesses will be able to improve their productivity through cloud based sharing with staff and customers as well as have increased opportunities to access new markets through e-commerce.
“It is very important to understand that switching to the NBN network does not happen automatically. Local residents and business owners need to contact their preferred retailer to arrange the switch to the NBN network.”
