National’s Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker, said today that the health of North Coast kids will be given a boost thanks to the Coalition Government increasing the rebate available under the Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) to $1,000 per child for treatment over a two year period.
“Teeth are such an important part of a developing child’s health, yet often due to financial circumstance parents on the Mid North Coast can’t afford to give their child the best treatment possible,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“The revised scheme recently announced, will give parents on the Mid North Coast area access to more funds to ensure their children’s health is protected not just now but in the future with healthy teeth,” he said.
“The Government had previously set the cap at $700 per child over a two year period.
“However, following consultation with the Australian Dental Association, the Coalition Government has decided to reinstate the cap at $1000.
“Those in very isolated communities won’t miss out either – the Government has provided $11 million over two years to the Royal Flying Doctor Service to deliver dental outreach services to rural and remote communities.
“Dental health is so important – if you invest in your child’s dental care now it will serve them well into adulthood. This increase of funding allows parents to make that investment,” he said.
