Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker has honoured Kempsey locals, Ronda Colliver and Kevin Ackerly with Federal Member’s Awards at a small gathering today.
Hosted by Kempsey Shire Council at the Council Chambers, Kempsey Mayor Liz Campbell was in attendance to pass on her appreciation to Ronda and Kevin for their many years of service to the local community.
“Ronda and Kevin are perfect examples of the type of people that it’s an honour to represent as the Federal Member,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“When you invest the sort of time, energy and resources into your local community that Ronda and Kevin do, you deserve to be recognised and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to heap praise on them because they’re far too selfless to praise themselves.
“I met them when I visited the Macleay Valley Eagles AFL Club earlier in the year, and was blown away by their dedication to not just the club and its participants, but the greater Kempsey community.
“They drive long distances each and every week to coach or ferry players to games. Their commitment to this club and the community seems to have no limits.
“People who give selflessly of their time and resources to help others are exactly the sort of people that every community needs to grow, and that’s why I couldn’t miss the opportunity to recognise Ronda and Kevin for being such an asset to Kempsey and the region of Cowper.”
