The Nationals Federal Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, said today the latest polling results indicate that he will be returned as the Member for Cowper.

Mr Hartsuyker said Labor candidate, Paul Sekfy, phoned him this morning and conceded the seat.

The latest two party preferred figures from the Australian Electoral Commission place Luke Hartsuyker 2,212 votes ahead of the Labor candidate.

Absentee and some pre poll votes are yet to be counted.

“I would like to thank the people of the Cowper for their support and for returning me as the Federal Member for Cowper,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“This was a very hard fought campaign and I am privileged to be given the opportunity to serve the people of the Cowper for a third term.”

Mr Hartsuyker said he remained committed to ensuring the residents of Cowper had a strong voice in the Federal Parliament.

“I will be consulting widely with local communities so that their views are represented in Canberra,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“I will continue to work hard at representing local constituents on federal issues.”
