Coopers Surf Australia to sponsor Luke’s bike ride for Disabled Surfers Association
13 January 2009
A bike ride which aims to raise funds for the Disabled Surfers Association has received a welcome boost with Coffs Coast company Coopers Surf Australia pledging financial support.
The bicycle ride is being staged by Federal MP Luke Hartsuyker and will see the local parliamentarian ride his bicycle through the Cowper electorate.
“The Mid North Coast Disabled Surfers Association is a great organisation which provides an opportunity for disabled people to enjoy the fun of the surf,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“Such activity is not only physically beneficial but it has the capacity to improve an individual’s confidence. I am aiming to raise some much needed funds so the association can continue to expand their open day programme.
“When I approached Andrew Lindsay from Coopers Surf Australia he was very supportive of the ride and agreed to come on board as an associate sponsor. Coopers Surfwear is synonymous with surfing on the Coffs Coast and it is excellent that they want to get involved.
“The Coopers sponsorship follows local credit union BCU announcing that it will be the major sponsor.”
Mr Hartsuyker said the ride will commence in Maclean on February 16 and will go through Grafton, Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour, the Bellingen and Nambucca Shires and South West Rocks. The ride will conclude in Kempsey on Wednesday February 18.
The DSA is always seeking more volunteers to help with their open days. Anyone seeking more information can contact Chris Allen from the DSA on 0437 274 474 or email him on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
