Phone and Internet users throughout regional and rural Australia have been given an extra opportunity to have their say on the telecommunications their areas need, said the Federal Member for Cowper and Shadow Regional Communications Minister, Luke Hartsuyker, today.
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (RTIRC) is conducting one of its regular reviews into the adequacy of telecommunications, with particular attention to what consumers need to take advantage of the digital economy.
The deadline for submissions has been extended until 11 December.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in regional telecommunications to have their say,” said Mr Hartsuyker.
“The more remote the area, the greater the need for up-to-the-minute communications. With the current rate of technological development, it’s vital that we help shape the future to make sure we get the services we need.
“The Review needs to hear from people in Cowper, whether they’re running a business, involved in health care, studying via the Internet, or just using the phone to keep in touch.
“If we have our say, we’re more likely to get the services we want.”
Full details of the Review, and how to make a submission, can be found at the RTIRC’s website - http://www.rtirc.gov.au/
