Cash Available for Community Groups, says Hartsuyker
March 2, 2010
Community groups should ensure they take advantage of funds available from the NRMA Insurance Community Grants programme, the Nationals’ Federal Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, said today (Tuesday).“Last year, the NRMA gave out $230,000 in NSW and the ACT,” said Mr Hartsuyker. “It’s a golden opportunity for those organisations with a project in mind to improve their community to get a helping hand.”
The grants, of between $500 and $5,000, fall into four categories:
- Road Safety – to change behaviour on the roads to reduce the number and severity of accidents;
- Crime Prevention – improving safety and security in communities;
- Emergency Readiness – minimising the effect of, and reducing incidents in the home;
- Environment – increasing environmental awareness and combating climate change.
Applications will be open from 1 to 31 March. Full details are available at NRMA offices, on 1300 306 496, and at www.nrma.com.au/grants
“So often groups are not able to go ahead with cherished projects because they’ve exhausted all their fund-raising possibilities. These grants could make all the difference and I’d encourage all those involved with their community to have a look at this programme,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
