We now have confirmation of what many of us already know, with Mid North Coast tourism operators named as some of the best in the country.
Nationals Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, said he was pleased to see Sea Acres Rainforest Centre in Port Macquarie awarded with a bronze medal at the 2017 Qantas Tourism Awards.
“It was great to see Sea Acres Rainforest Centre take home a bronze medal in the Visitor Information Services category,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“I was delighted to have been at the awards ceremony where Sea Acres Rainforest Centre was selected as winner from a list of 200 finalists.
“It is operators like Sea Acres Rainforest Centre that attract tourists to our beautiful region, which helps to promote jobs and investment.”
Mr Hartsuyker also paid tribute to the other Mid North Coast finalists.
“Congratulations must also go to the two other finalists from the Mid North Coast region, Lilypad Luxury Cabins and Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail, and another bronze winner Sealy Lookout at Coffs Harbour.”
Mr Hartsuyker also emphasised the need to focus on encouraging domestic and international tourists to venture away from our capital cities to experience regional Australia.
“Australia’s tourism industry continues to be one of the key pillars of our economy with growth at record level. Tourism provides direct employment for almost 600,000 Australians and contributes $55 billion to Australia’s GDP,” he said.
“However, while tourism in Australia’s major cities is excelling, we need to be striving to encourage more tourists to also visit regional areas like the Mid North Coast.”
