Next Stage of Jetty Foreshores Development Underway

Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker was joined by Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight this morning to officially turn the first sod on stages 2-4 of the Jetty Foreshores redevelopment project.

The $9.2 million project is jointly funded by the Australian Government, through the National Stronger Regions Fund, and the Coffs Harbour City Council.

Mr Hartsuyker said the next stages of the redevelopment would provide much-improved space for markets and performances, and significantly improved amenities for families and visitors.

“The Jetty Foreshores precinct should be the jewel in the Coffs Coast’s crown, but it needs this facelift to meet the discerning standards of modern tourists and beachgoers, who are expecting more than ever from public leisure facilities,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“There is often a shortage of car parking on the foreshores, so new car parking facilities will be welcomed by all, and the new all-abilities walkways and improved lighting are a long-awaited upgrade for families using the foreshores’ recreational facilities.

“The upgrade also includes an outdoor exercise station and a low-level boardwalk above the dunes that will connect the jetty with a new plaza and beach-side kiosk.

“Additional picnic shelters will also provide more space for the many parties and social gatherings held at the foreshores every week.

“The Jetty Foreshores precinct is a great community asset, and I am pleased to be delivering $4.6 million in Australian Government funding to complete these next stages of the redevelopment.

“Council has engaged with the community extensively on the design and strategy for redeveloping the Jetty Foreshores, so I am confident the broader community will embrace this upgrade.”

The upgrade is scheduled for completion in October 2017, ahead of the 2017-18 summer holiday period.
