South West Rocks is to become safer thanks to funding delivered by Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker and the Kempsey Shire Council.
Mr Hartsuyker today visited South West Rocks with Kempsey Mayor Liz Campbell to tour the location for the much anticipated ‘Safer Communities Fund’ security upgrades.
“When I was talking to South West Rocks locals before the last election, many of them mentioned that more could be done to make their community feel safer,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“That is why the Federal Government is committed to deliver $300,000 to upgrade security systems in the Kempsey CBD, Crescent Head, and South West Rocks, rolled out by Kempsey Shire Council.
“And this visit today is to inspect the location where this upgraded security lighting system would be within the South West Rocks community.”
“These shared community spaces should be safe for us all to use, and this system will aid in the reduction of crime and antisocial behaviour.”
Mayor Liz Campbell acknowledged the funding will have a significant impact on Macleay communities.
“This funding will see lighting used to link public thoroughfares and business areas in multiple places across the Macleay. It’s a really practical improvement in community safety” said Mayor Campbell.
